Motorcyclist dies following Sunday morning accident

A motorcyclist has died following a car accident Sunday morning at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Quality Street.

Police have not released the name of the motorcyclist, but said the rider was a 48 year-old man. He was traveling south of Church Hill Road around 10 a.m. when struck by a 88 year-old woman driving a 2013 Honda Civic.

“The Honda, operated by an 88 year-old female, was attempting a left turn onto Quality Street from the northbound lane of Church Hill Road, when it struck the motorcycle,” police said. “No other serious injuries were reported.”

Church Hill Road was closed for several hours following the accident.

Police said the identity of the driver and motorcyclist have not been released, pending family notification.

The accident is under investigation by the Trumbull Police Department Traffic Accident Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Monroe Police Department.
