Meet your local volunteer firefighters at open houses during Fire Prevention Month

The three volunteer fire departments in Trumbull will be holding their open house events. See live demos, car accident, room fire and more. Below is the schedule for each:

Nichols Fire Department — Sunday, Oct. 11, noon-3 p.m., 100 Shelton Road. They will feature the Connecticut Child Identification program, a fire safety trailer, “Jaws of Life” accident demonstration, a room fire demonstration and much more. Visitors will also have a chance to win a ride to school in a fire truck.

Refreshments include hot dogs, apples and apple cider, along with pumpkins given to all children who come.

Trumbull Center Fire Department — Sunday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 860 White Plains Road. Fire prevention information, truck tours, a blow-up truck slide, firefighter demonstrations, snacks and a kids’ pumpkin patch.

Long Hill Fire Department — Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 6315 Main St. Includes a smoke house and safety demonstration, a tour of the firehouse, meet and greet with firefighters, police and EMS and a chance to explore the trucks. Live demonstrations will include a room fire, car fire, stove fire and car extrication.
