Fire department warns of phone scam
The Long Hill Fire Department is warning residents of a possible phone scam taking place in town. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, department officials learned this morning, January 2, that residents are receiving phone calls from people claiming to be affiliated with the department, requesting donations. Some residents have reported that their caller ID displayed “Volunteer firefighters” or “First Responders.” Residents reported similar calls last year.
The department warned residents not to donate to these callers, as they are not affiliated with any of the three Trumbull fire departments. The Trumbull Volunteer Fire Co. (Trumbull Center) also confirmed via social media that it does not solicit donations over the phone.
