An 80 year-old man went into cardiac arrest Tuesday morning while shoveling snow, according to Trumbull Police.

Police and EMS Chief Joseph Laucella said they did not know the patient's condition, though The Connecticut Post has reported the man died at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Following the collapse around 10:30 a.m., CPR was started by a family member who was relieved by responding police officers who continued CPR, administered oxygen and defibrillated the victim.

EMS arrived and took over care of the patient, who was transported  to St. Vincent’s hospital.

First Selectman Tim Herbst mentioned the cardiac arrest on social media Tuesday afternoon, urging  seniors to be careful if shoveling snow.
