A Trumbull man is facing multiple charges after police allegedly found him asleep behind the wheel of his car July 23.
According to reports, police received a complaint of a silver Honda Accord being operated erratically on Williams Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Honda stopped diagonally across the road, with the driver, later identified as 20-year-old John Carmolingo of Trumbull, asleep behind the wheel. Officers had to reach into the car window and put the car into park, police said.
After waking Carmolingo, officers detected signs that he was under the influence of narcotics. He failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
A search of Carmolingo located four small “folds” of heroin hidden in a cigarette box he had inside of the front of his shorts.
Carmolingo was charged with possession of narcotics and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Bond was $1,000 for court July 31.
