Armed man holds up Trumbull bank

A lone gunman entered Newtown Savings Bank on White Plains Road this morning, demanding money, according to Trumbull Deputy Chief Michael Harry.

The man entered the bank around 9:30 a.m. and was carrying a handgun, police said. The teller handed over an unspecified amount of money and the suspect fled in a green Honda. Police later found the Honda in a commuter parking lot on Park Street, Harry said.

The police are reviewing security camera footage and processing the vehicle.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or the suspect are asked to call the police at 203-261-3665.
