Alleged drunk driver a fugitive from justice, police say
A man arrested for allegedly driving under the influence Feb. 21 was later found to be a fugitive from justice in North Carolina, according to police.
Police said they found Miguel Rivera, 34, of Bridgeport, passed out at the wheel early last Saturday morning, with his car against a snow bank on Route 108. Police said he had a beer can between his legs and once he woke up, was belligerent and stumbling.
He was taken to headquarters and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and failure to drive right. A breath test revealed blood alcohol content of .202.
Once arrested, police found he had warrants out of North Carolina for breaking and entering charges. His bond was set at $100,000. Once he appears in court March 2, he will be sent to North Carolina, police said.
