'The Battle of Okinawa' author talk at library

George Feifer, Connectucit author of Battle of Okinawa: The Blood and the Bomb, will be at the Trumbull Library on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., in the Trumbull Library’s Community Room, The Battle of Okinawa was “the largest land-sea-air battle in history,” yet remarkably little is known about this final major engagement of World War II.

Feifer’s book, The Battle of Okinawa, provides an unforgettable picture of men at war and also the context for understanding one of the most ominous events of this century: The decision to drop the atomic bomb.

In addition to his dozen highly-praised books and his writing for the BBC and CBS News, Feifer has contributed major articles to The Atlantic, Harper’s, The New Republic, the New York Times Magazine, the Quarterly Review of Military History and dozens more. His writing has earned many medals, and he has lectured at hundreds of universities, libraries, societies and clubs.
