Pruning Made Practical topic at Nichols Garden Club meeting

A complete demonstration on Pruning with live plants will be hosted by the Nichols Garden Club, to be held on Tuesday, March 11, with Karla Dalley. It will take place at 1773 Huntington Tpke. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m., with the demonstration at 8.  Members will learn the best time, and pruning techniques to promote good health and vigor in your shrubs and flowering plants.  Tool review and care included.

Dalley has lectured at Capital Community College where she offered various one-hour courses on gardening, both at their Hartford campus and throughout the community in conjunction with various towns’ Parks and Rec departments.  She currently lecture to homeowner’s associations, garden clubs, women’s groups, nurseries, and in various special places like Gardeners Supply in Burlington, Vermont and at the Envirothon.

In the past, she has done landscape design and garden coaching and has advised homeowners on such varied topics as houseplants, pond placement, garden re-design and planting.  She continues to assist the homeowner’s association with aquatic weed control.

Currently, Dalley is the garden columnist for West Hartford Magazine and the book Reviewer for the Connecticut Horticulture Society, as well as the sole author of this organic gardening blog, “Gardendaze.”
