Rita Bond will be the featured speaker when the Long Hill Garden Club meets on Monday, March 24, at the Trumbull Library. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., and the program will start at 12:45 p.m. Her topic “The Mixed Border: Taking Advantage of Everything Out There,” will show how incorporating small trees, shrubs, annuals, grasses and perennials within a garden border leads to more success and less work.

The program will cover the best plants to use and the best way to organize and combine color, texture and structural variety.

Bond has been a landscape designer, lecturer and teacher of gardening courses for 15 years. She earned a certificate in landscape design at the NY Botanical Gardens and became a Master Gardener through UConn’s program. She also studied color theory at the West Hartford Art League.
