The Fairfield Museum and History Center announces its sixth annual “Images” photography competition and invites professional/serious amateur and student photographers from Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts to participate. Deadline for entries is Monday, March 31, at 9 a.m.

This year’s categories include landscape, portrait, architecture, nature, abstract and iconic Fairfield, in honor of the town’s 375th anniversary.

“Images” is being sponsored by First Niagara, Venu magazine, Southport Gallery, WSHU Public Radio and Fairfield University. In addition to the juried show, “Images 2014” will also feature the work of internationally renowned photographer and Fairfield native David LaChapelle.

Photographers may submit up to 10 images under one of two categories: professional/serious amateur or student (active student under 24 years old). Entry fees are $10 per image for professional/serious amateur and $5 per image for students. All competition entries must be submitted online at FairfieldHistory.org/IMAGES2014,

A jury will select approximately 50 photographs from the entries for exhibition in the “Images 2014” exhibition, which will be on view at the Fairfield Museum from May 10 through June 22. The exhibit will launch on Saturday, May 10, with a gala preview party. A Museum After Dark Artists’ Reception is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
