THS Winter Percussion wins first place, head to Dayton, Ohio April 8

The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band’s Winter Percussion Ensemble took first place in the March 21 Winter Guard International (WGI) Regional competition in Unionville, Pennsylvania.

After placing first in the preliminary round against seven other groups in their category, the THSGEMB Winter Percussion rehearsed until performing in the final round at 8 p.m., that same night. The group returned home to Trumbull following the awards ceremony as first place winners in the Scholastic Open class.

This year’s shows is titled “Light Admist the Darkness,” featuring the music of: “Mind Heist” by Zack Hemsey, Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, and “Lux Aeterna” by Clint Mansell. Musical rrrangements by David Reeves and the drill is designed by Pete Rehill

On April 8, the Winter Percussion Ensemble will be heading to Dayton, Ohio for a week long WGI Championship competition. This annual competition is attended by approximately 44 percussion ensembles from around the world that compete according to their class or category.
