School Briefs - Jane Ryan School

The Jane Ryan Back-to-School Clean-Up Day will be on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 9 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 24. Please help out for even an hour or two to spruce up the school gardens and playgrounds before the start of another year.

Families are also needed to join the Lion’s Pride Garden Club that maintains the beds surrounding the school throughout the year. Families are assigned a “plot” to care for, including weeding and mulch. Cost is $10 for the year to cover the cost of mulch. Contact Megan Watson at with any questions.

A Jane Ryan PTA Reflections Chair or Chairs is needed. This year’s theme is “The World Would Be a Better Place if ...” Each year, students in grades Pre-K through 12 are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students submit their artwork to Local PTAs for initial judging. In Connecticut, local PTAs submit their 1st place winning entries to the State Office. Top entries from our State PTA Reflections contest advance to National PTA for the final round of judging. National PTA awards are announced each May. Visit for more information.
