Lydia Monks graduates from the USCGA

Lydia Monks, daughter of Thomas and Susan Monks of Trumbull, will graduate from the United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT with high honors today, Wednesday, May 22.   She will be receiving her diploma from Vice President Joseph Biden and will be commissioned by her uncle, LtCol Steven Stuban, USA retired.  Lydia graduates with a BS in Government and is the recipient of the Captain Charles Avery Satterlee Memorial Award by the Military Order of the World Wars.  This award is given to the cadet who excels in composition and rhetoric.  Lydia, a 2009 graduate of St. Joseph High School reports for duty aboard the USCG Cutter Mohawk in Key West, Florida.  She is the granddaughter of Thomas and Grace Monks of Easton and Frank and Helen Stuban of Seymour.
