Kumba Hinds receives scholarship

Kumba Hinds of Trumbull, a rising third-year student at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, has received a scholarship to attend the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation’s national conference and inaugural Family Medicine Leads (FML) Emerging Leader Institute July 30-Aug. 2 in Leawood, Kansas.

“I am honored and excited to receive this fellowship," Hinds said. “I most look forward to further exploring my interest and education in family medicine through the leadership training and year long research project. I simply cannot wait to meet and learn from my future colleagues in this field.”

Hinds earned a master's degree in public health and a bachelor's degree in history of science, history of medicine and international studies from Yale University. She will be one of 30 students and resident scholars to attend the institute, which will focus on three tracks: Policy and public health leadership, personal and practice leadership and philanthropic and mission driven leadership.

Hinds will participate in the policy and public health leadership track.
