Trumbull state representatives Dave Rutigliano (R-123), Laura Devlin (R-134) and Ben McGorty (R-122) finished their annual month-long food drive to benefit the Trumbull Food Pantry this December. The state legislators had a mission to put together a town food drive after Thanksgiving, reminding local residents that there are many struggling families in Trumbull that need of assistance over the next part of the holiday season. On Saturday, Dec. 12, all three Trumbull officials stood outside the Stop and Shop and personally collected a few car loads of food. “The continued generosity of the people of Trumbull never ceases to amaze me,” Rep. Rutigliano said. “We live in a great community.” Rep. Devlin agreed about the community’s generosity. “Time and again, the Trumbull community has stepped up to support and help our neighbors,” she said. “The need for donations to the pantry is immense right now. “Please continue to donate, if you can,” she urged residents. The pantry accepts non-perishable food items, paper products like paper towels and toilet paper, and toiletries such as shampoo and toothpaste. Additionally, the pantry accepts gift cards from local stores that allow pantry workers to buy items they are unable to stock. For anyone who has not donated but still wishes to you can drop off donations at The Center at Priscilla Place during building hours, which are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you are dropping off a large donation, please call 203-452-5198 to notify the Trumbull Social Services staff.
