The oldest cemetery still in existence in Shelton will be the site of an informative walk on Saturday, Oct. 24. Located off Constitution Blvd. where it is tucked away adjacent to Route 8, Long Hill Burying Ground holds some stories dating back to the 1720\u2019s and is the final resting place for many members of Shelton\u2019s first families. Marty Coughlin, who is president of the Shelton Historical Society and the Long Hill Cemetery Association, will present the program at 10:30 a.m. and will repeat it again at 2 p.m. Five dollar admission for adults will benefit both organizations, however, admission is free for students. It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes. Parking along Long Hill Avenue is very limited. In case of rain, the event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Shelton Historical Society maintains a complex of six historic structures at Shelton History Center, 70 Ripton Road. The office is open year-round by appointment for research and tours.
