Announcement from Trumbull Library System — Taking effect January 1, 2016: To defray rising book and media purchase costs, the Library Board (which sets policy for the library) has decided to raise the overdue book fine from $.10 to $.15 per day, which will be the first increase in more than 30 years. As in the past, all fine money is used to purchase library materials; in this way we also hope to meet the many requests in the survey to grow the collection.

Burroughs Cider Mill author talk — Sunday, Jan. 3, 2-3 p.m. Join us as we welcome Serge G. Mihaly, Jr., author of The Burroughs Cider Mill to discuss his book. The family mill produced cider and other products until 1972. Take a trip down one of Trumbull’s memory lanes. Books available for sale and signing. Free. Register.

Start the New Year writing — Join one of two evening Writers’ Groups: Linda Howard’s (second and fourth Tuesday) and Wednesday Writers (first and third Wednesday). Contact Linda Panovich-Sachs at the main library to visit.

2016 non-fiction discussion group — Sue Horton’s Monthly Director's Club starts up Wednesday, Feb. 3. Check the library for copies now. Upcoming: The Boys in the Boat, by Daniel Brown, The Nazis Next Door by Eric Lichtbau, and The Witches: Salem 1692, by Stacy Schiff. Drop by to join.
