Trumbull high partners with Yale University
Trumbull High School students will attend the Emotion Revolution Summit on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Yale University.
At the end of the previous school year, students volunteered to participate in an anonymous survey to guide efforts emphasizing the importance of teaching social and emotional learning in schools.
Lady Gaga and her mother, Born This Way Foundation co-founder Cynthia Germanotta, are slated to appear at the event, as are Yale President Peter Salovey and Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence director Marc Brackett.
Dr. Brackett was the Trumbull Public Schools keynote speaker at this year’s faculty convocation.
The Emotion Revolution is a joint initiative between the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and the Born This Way Foundation. Thirteen peer leaders, one parent chaperone, and one of their faculty advisors, Bill Mecca, will participate in workshops focused on creating a plan of action for cultivating positive school climate specific to Trumbull High School.
This work builds on the many school climate initiatives K-12, including the Peer Leaders partnership and programming with the Anti-Defamation League’s A World of Difference Institute.
