Trumbull grandparents attended Papal Mass with family last fall (SLIDESHOW)
Former Trumbull resident Maura Kelly Lannan and her husband Bob, above, visited Washington D.C. this past fall to attend the Papal Mass.
Maura’s parents, Richard and Margaret Kelly, still live in Trumbull on Koger Road and attended the special service, too. Maura and Bob received tickets to the Mass from their parish in Maryland and offered them to her parents, while attending the service as volunteers.
Richard and Margaret were given tickets from U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro from Connecticut, who graduated with Margaret from Lauralton Hall in 1960, to see the Pope appear on the balcony of the U.S. Capitol the day after the Mass.
In addition to the Trumbull grandparents, Maura’s seven-year-old son Bobby and her nine-year-old daughter Peggy saw Pope Francis speak after he addressed Congress.
Sen. DeLauro then invited the family to lunch at her Congressional office and her staff gave everyone a private tour of the U.S. Capitol.
