The Trumbull Historical Society is proud to announce that a permanent memorial being erected at Abraham Nichols Park in honor of longtime town resident Igor Sikorsky will be dedicated on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m.

The memorial in Nichols Park, adjacent to the Historical Society Museum at 1856 Huntington Turnpike, is a joint endeavor of the Historical Society and the Town of Trumbull, with the support of the Sikorsky Foundation and the Sikorsky Historical Archives. Expected participants in the ceremony include three of Igor Sikorsky’s sons, Sikorsky Aircraft representatives, and local dignitaries.

Historical Society members are welcomed to attend this event, which will also feature an exhibit in the museum on the many accomplishments of Igor Sikorsky (1889-1972), who invented the modern helicopter and developed other aviation breakthroughs.
