Trumbull Health Department continues flu, blood pressure clinic
It is not too late to get your seasonal influenza shot from The Trumbull Health Department.
According to the Center for Disease control, influenza rates peaks in January and the flu season can last until March. Getting vaccinated reduces risk of complications from the flu, such as hospitalization and protects those who are considered high risk (such as those over age 65 and those with chronic conditions). Everybody considering receiving a flu vaccine should first check with their doctor.
Quadrivalent flu shots are offered at the Trumbull Health Department on Mondays from 3-5 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30am. There is no appointment necessary as the clinic operates on a walk in basis. In addition to flu shots, free blood pressure screenings will be available on a walk in basis during the hours listed above. According to the American Heart Association, people have no way of knowing they have high blood pressure without being tested.
Flu shots are covered by Medicare Part B, Anthem, ConnectiCare, Aetna and Cigna. Please bring your insurance card and a valid driver license/state Id with you. Standard seasonal flu shots cost $30 per person. There is no cost for the blood pressure screening.
