The following programs are listed for January at the Trumbull Senior Center.

The Center at 23 Priscilla Place is open Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. For more information and to RSVP, call 203-452-5199, unless otherwise noted.

The Center provides transportation for medical, social, and nutritional needs to Trumbull residents who are age 60 and over and/or age 55-59 and disabled, five days a week. Rides are for those traveling to and from the senior center, medical appointments, legal appointments and nutrition programs.

The Senior Center provides medical transportation within the following towns/cities: Trumbull, Bridgeport, Stratford, Monroe, and Shelton. Contact Ashley Grace at 203-452-5137 to schedule a ride.

Veteran’s group — Friday, Jan. 11, 9 a.m. All Veterans are welcome; any gender, any era, branch of service, or type of discharge. Join Christopher Dean, MSW student, every second Friday of the month for discussion and support. RSVP.

Genealogy — Monday, Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m. Have you always been interested in learning about your family history? Join us for an informative presentation about genealogy. Refreshments and snacks will be served. This program is being sponsored by Right at Home. RSVP.

Basic computer tips and tricks with Cathy — Wednesday, Jan. 16, 10:30-11:15 a.m. Learn tips on how to use your computer easier, create shortcuts, save files, and clear up clutter. Presented by computer tutor, Cathy. RSVP.

Join our new walking group — Every Thursday at 1 p.m. Kick off the New Year with health and wellness in mind. Join the Walking Group with our Wellness Nurse Victoria. The group will walk every Thursday beginning Thursday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. The group will meet at the Trumbull mall for the winter. We will meet on the second floor in front of Target. Lunch and movie — Friday, Jan. 18, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sponsored by Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Feature film: Nine Lives. A businessman finds himself trapped inside the body of the family’s cat. Starring: Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner. RSVP.

Accessing medical records — Tuesday, Jan. 22, 11:30 a.m. (Returning students: Noon) Wellness Nurse, Victoria Benoit, teaches how to access your own personal medical records online. Six seats available. Computer experience not necessary. Know your e-mail account login information. RSVP.

What is Reiki? — Wednesday, Jan. 23, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Learn the rich history of Reiki. Presented by Jessica Kolbusz, Holistic Practitioner. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Call for more information and to RSVP.

AARP Safe Drivers course — Friday, Jan. 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. $15 members and $20 non-members. Checks only. RSVP.

Medicare appointments and counseling — Monday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m.-noon Scott Berney, representing Berney Insurance Group, will be present to counsel individually on Medicare Supplemental plans as well as Medicare Advantage plans. Berney is an independent agent who represents multiple carriers including Anthem BC/BS, Aetna, Connecticare, AARP/ United Health, Humana and Silverscript. Caregiver Support group — Monday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m. Are you caring for a loved one? Join this group and share your feelings in a safe environment among others who are going through the same experiences. You can learn about resources, caregiving strategies and other valuable tools to provide support. Most importantly, you’ll find out that you’re not alone.
