The Trumbull Monroe Health District (TMHD) has partnered with Cooking Matters and Stop and Shop to offer a program called, “Cooking Matters at the Store,” on Tuesday, June 10, from 11:3- a.m.-1:3- p.m., at Stop and Shop, 470 Main St., Monroe. This free program empowers families to stretch their food budget to get healthy meals at home, and is offered to parents and caregivers.

“TMHD is pleased to be able to work together with our partners to offer this program to parents,” said Patrice Sulik, TMHD Director of Health. “This program will offer tips on how to eat healthy while staying within your budget.”

Cooking Matters at the Store is based on 20 years of experience serving low-income families across the country. During the tour, participants are empowered with four key food skills: Reading food labels, comparing unit prices, finding whole grain foods, and identifying three ways to purchase produce. Participants take home a booklet with recipes and shopping tips, a reusable grocery bag, and a $10 gift card.

Space is limited. Registration is required. Call TMHD at 203-452-5195 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to register or for more information.
