Those driving on the Merritt Parkway near exit 47 Wednesday and Thursday night should expect delays from an overnight resurfacing project, according to the state's transportation department.

The work will be done from 10 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Thursday, Oct. 22.

The project will be performed on the Park Avenue roundabout as well as the southbound off-ramp of exit 47 that drivers use to get to Sacred Heart University.

The Department of Transportation said in a release that drivers should expect closures to occur on the southbound exit off-ramp in Trumbull, which will require a detour while the resurfacing project is taking place.

The detour route includes taking exit 46 southbound to Jefferson Street and driving north to Park Avenue.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed access, the release said, and state police and traffic control will be guiding drivers through the work zone.
