Long Hill Garden Club members and Elite students create holiday gifts
Members of the Long Hill Garden Club worked with members of the Elite Program to create holiday cards, small floral arrangements and gifts for their teachers, parents and relatives. These members make up the Garden Therapy Elite Group Program. They work with students in the Trumbull School System.
Elite (Educating Learners in Transitional Environments ) is a vocational program with an average of 12 students ages 18 to 21. It fosters functional academics, independent community access and leisure, employability and social skills.
At their last meeting, students and volunteers decorated artificial pumpkins with dried flowers, ribbons and other enhancements. They will be returning in February to make a fresh flower Valentine design and again in May to do outdoor planting.
