Trumbull actor, broadcaster, and voice artist Randye Kaye is set to take the stage this week as the iconic Momma Morton in the classic, American musical Chicago.

Set in the roaring 20’s, Chicago tells the story of two, rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in the Illinois Cook County jail. Kaye’s character, Morton, presides over the cellblock as the corrupt intermediary between the death row inmates and the outside world.

The show will perform outdoors, under the stars, in Monroe’s Wolfe Park as part of the town's Theater in the Park series, August 7-9. Grounds open at 6:30 for picnicking, and the show begins nightly at 8.

“I love outdoor theater,” Kaye said. “It’s such a great community experience. And it’s an honor to be part of bringing this to our neighborhood.

“The last outdoor theater production I did was in West Virginia…I like this commute much better!” she joked.

A seasoned performer who has a lifetime of stage, radio, and television voice-over credits to her name, Kaye has a long history with the creative team at Two Planks Theater.

“For me… and frequently my children, local theater has often included (co-directors) David and Susan Halliwell and (choreographer) Judy Abbatiello,” she said. “I'm thrilled to be together again!”
