Lecture with Dan Alon: A Survivor Tells His Story

Munich ‘72, 11 Israeli Olympic athletes were murdered…only five escaped. A Survivor Tells His Story — A special morning with Dan Alon will be held Sunday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m., at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Avenue, Southport.

Dan Alon's fencing career began at age 12, continued through his teen years and reached its peak at age 27. In 1972 he joined the Israeli fencing team at the Olympic games in Munich. Alon's world was shattered on September 5th of that year. A group of terrorists called Black September invaded the building in which he and his 15 fellow athletes were. Eleven were murdered in cold blood; only 5 managed to escape. Dan Alon was one of them. After four decades, Dan Alon has begun to share his story of courage and rebuilding. Join this event to hear Dan's story of survival.
