In an effort to raise awareness and inform the public about the Federal Affordable Care Act and Connecticut Healthcare Exchange, and how these newly implemented health insurance regulations will impact individuals and their businesses, state Rep. Tony Hwang is inviting any interested person to an informational panel discussion with health care experts and business leaders on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 a.m. at Sacred Heart University , 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield.

The forum which will be held at the William Pitt Center Board Room (William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center, second Floor) will include expert panelists who will explain and answer questions about the implementation of the new Healthcare Exchange which goes into effect on Oct. 1.

“As I talk to people in the district, I am continually getting questions about how health care insurance changes are impacting their lives and wonder how the new federal law will affect their quality and access to care,” Hwang, a member of the legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee, said. “My commitment in convening this panel is to help answer many of the questions my constituents and our broader community have about health care insurance,” said Rep. Hwang, a member of the legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate committee.

Hwang has assembled a wide range of experts in areas of health care, insurance and small business to answer questions and share the possible impact and consequences on small businesses, the self-insured, independent contractors, senior citizens, and people with pre-existing conditions, state HUSKY participants and anyone who is currently uninsured.
