Group aims to have community 'IMPACT'

It’s been nearly two years since Trumbull resident Jenn Record started the nonprofit Individuals Making Positive Advances in our Community of Trumbull (IMPACTrumbull), and last Monday, volunteers were assembling items in their largest collection yet.

Sixty backpacks were stuffed with school supplies and 100 “Blessings Bags” were filled with travel-size hygiene products for local homeless shelters. Those doing the work were a group of young children, teens and parents.

The school supplies will go to students in need at Bridgeport Public Schools, through Family ReEntry Inc. The Blessings Bags will go to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and Home for the Brave.

“Everyone here has children,” Record said of the group of volunteers. “We are trying to raise our children to help others. A couple hours a month can make a huge difference.”

The money is raised and items donated from families who are part of IMPACTrumbull. Vaughn Family Dentistry also helps and donates, Record said.

The group does a drive every month and new members are always welcome. For more information, visit
