Last week, Ambassador Girl Scout and Trumbull High School senior Kassie Castaldi implemented her Gold Award project. The Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouts, wherein a Senior or Ambassador level scout designs and leads the execution of a sustainable Take Action project that addresses an issue in her community. Annually, fewer than 6% of eligible scouts earn their Gold Award. For her project, Kassie chose to research, create, and deliver a presentation to eighth grade classes at Madison and Hillcrest aiming to educate them on the benefits of playing a musical instrument and hopefully inspiring them to continue or pick up an instrument when they go on to high school. Additionally, she made a brochure for them to take home, thereby increasing parents' awareness as well. Kassie is currently awaiting official approval and reception of the award.
