Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s food pantry is running low and area “Stuff-A-Truck” food drives are aimed to stem the shortage and feed hungry families and individuals throughout coastal Fairfield County.

On Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Stop & Shop in Trumbull, the following items will be collected: Canned soup, beef stew, vegetables, ham, tuna and beans; pasta and sauce; macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles; cold cereal; powdered drink mix; coffee.

“If you can help, bring a bag or two of groceries to your favorite Stop & Shop store or purchase extra while you do your regular grocery shopping,” wrote Terry Wilcox, executive director of the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. “You’ll feel good knowing someone on the streets, a weary mom and her youngsters, a senior citizen on a limited income and so many other struggling people will have a nutritious meal tonight and tomorrow because you care.”
