Democracy for Connecticut to host political commentary, book signing Wednesday

On Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at the Silver Star Diner in Norwalk, Democracy for Connecticut (aka DFA-Fairfield County) will host a Political Commentary and Book Signing with Yale Professor Jacob Hacker. Jacob is the co-author of the wonderful new book American Amnesia - How the War on Government Led Us to Forget What Made America Prosper.

Jacob will trace the economic and political history of the United States over the last century and show how a viable mixed economy has long been the dominant engine of America’s prosperity. He will explain how the mixed economy was the most important social innovation of the twentieth century and how it spread a previously unimaginable level of broad prosperity in the U.S. and around the world.

Today, advocates of anti-government free market fundamentalism are determined to scrap the instrument of nearly a century of unprecedented economic and social progress.

Come hear Professor Hacker remind us of what we have forgotten and suggest how we can return our nation to prosperity once more.
