Bagpiper and Irish dancers visit Maefair
On March 19, during a week of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, residents of Maefair Health Care Center, were entertained by a strolling bagpiper and Irish folk dancers.
Terrance McGovern, member of the Manchester Regional Police and Fire Pipe Band, marched through the hallways playing traditional Irish and Scottish tunes. He also visited the formal dining rooms and offered a short performance for the residents during lunch. In full Scottish attire, McGovern delighted all who saw him.
In the afternoon, three young dancers from the Sheeaun Academy of Irish Dance in Fairfield, performed some Irish folk dances for the residents. “Adelina, a resident at Maefair, sat in the front row and watched with pride as her great-granddaughter, who is a team member of the dance group, sang an Irish favorite, “Oh, Danny Boy.”
