Archana Uppal has recently joined Trumbull Rotary. She is a 20-year resident of the town, wife of a software engineer and mother of two daughters, one of whom is a PhD. candidate in autism research and the other who plans to study dentistry.

Even before being officially installed May 31, Uppal joined in on a number of Rotary projects including the carnival, the veteran home build and the dodge ball tournament. She joined Rotary in order to give back to the community in which she lives and the country which has become her home. Moreover, through Rotary International she plans to support projects in India, the country she was born in and lived for 25 years.

She says, “Growing up in India I saw a lot of poverty, starvation, lack of clean water, and poor hygiene and abject living conditions for the poorest sections of society. I know Rotary can help.”

She has been in the banking industry for more than 20 years with Discover Financial Services and, previously, for Citigroup. While having a full time job, she has found time to help community projects in Trumbull, Bridgeport and Fairfield.

“Through Trumbull Rotary members and the many club projects, I will be able to do even more in years to come,” she said.
