Non-fiction discussion group — Brown bag lunch meeting. Wednesday, Sept. 3, noon-1 p.m. Dir. Sue Horton’s group. Bring lunch. September’s title is The Girls of Atomic City, by Denise Kiernan. 2013. 373pp. At the height of WWII, young women were recruited to Oak Ridge, TN by solid wages and war-ending work. They did not know the true nature of their tasks until the end of the war when the secret was revealed. This book captures the spirit, pluck, and courage of these women. Check the library for copies; ideas welcome. Drop in to join.
