The Kennedy Center presents JACKS Benefit Concert Saturday, Feb. 6
The Kennedy Center invites Fairfield County residents to an amazing evening of music that will benefit its children's services. The event, titled JACKS Benefit Concert, will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at Fairfield Theatre Company located on 70 Sanford Street in Fairfield.
JACKS is a Jazz Rock fusion of Connecticut’s best musicians coming together for one night and one purpose — to help local children with disabilities and special needs.
A fun pre-party starts the evening at 7 p.m. in the Art/Place Gallery attached to FTC's StageOne with food stations, open bar and a fabulous silent auction.
After some great food and mingling with friends, head into StageOne at 8:30 p.m. to hear a mix of smooth jazz and rock for one incredible night of entertainment.
Headlining the group is Steve Scales at percussion, formerly with Talking Heads; extraordinary guitarist, Andy Abel of the Best of the Gold Coast Band, Tangled Vine; bass player, Dave Livolsi of Kung Fu; vocalist Timmy Maia; drummer Trevor Somerville; and playing keyboard is Scott Peckham. Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth will join the group for a Special Encore Performance.

“Kennedy Center Children’s Services needs the community’s support now more than ever,” said Martin D. Schwartz, President and CEO of The Kennedy Center. “We are being presented with the challenge of providing more services for children with less funding.”
Birth to Three is demonstrably effective in improving outcomes for children and families in Connecticut.
“On average, 51% of children that received Birth to Three services are no longer in need of special education services by the age of 5,” added Schwartz. “Clearly, our children’s programs are having a major impact on healthy outcomes and we want to continue to provide these necessary services.”

History and mission
The Kennedy Center, founded in 1951, is an internationally accredited, non-profit, community-based rehabilitation organization that currently serves 2,400 individuals annually. The agency actively responds to the needs of the community by offering innovative, comprehensive service options to persons with disabilities and special needs, from birth to senior years. The Kennedy Center operates 30 community experience programs, 16 group homes, an industries program composed of six businesses, supported and competitive employment and job placement services, a family support and respite service, travel training, and a variety of children’s programs.
