Marie’s Sandwich Shop is coming back, after closing its Trumbull Center restaurant about five months ago.

The sandwich shop, which had been in town for 47 years, closed suddenly in March, leading to many shocked customers and outcry over the loss of a long-time Trumbull Center business.

Peter DiNardo, who is part of the commercial real estate group that owns Trumbull Center, confirmed the reopening of the 920 White Plains Road business Tuesday.

“It will be owned and operated by new owners,” DiNardo said. “As always, we look forward to welcoming a new business to Trumbull Center.”

In March, then-owner Kathy Hallahan said closing was an economic decision, based on reduced traffic and in part to the loss of Porricelli’s Market. She said she would miss the customers and hometown feel of the area.

A sign on the door this week says Marie’s will be open again soon and work has been going on inside.

We will post more information as it becomes available.
