Advanced email: Beyond the basics — Wednesday, Aug. 7, 10-11:30 a.m. For people who already send, and receive email. This lecture-demonstration session will explain how to create an address book, how to send attachments, and how to create folders. Register.
Living in space, with the Connecticut Science Center — Teens: Back to Basics-Read summer activities. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2-3 p.m. Discover what it is like to live and work in space. Investigate the conditions in space and what a human needs to survive. Limited to 25; going into 6th-12th grades. Register.
Author talk: You Are Not Alone — Our Loved Ones Are Here — ... You’re Just Not Listening. Thursday, Aug. 8, 6:30-8 p.m. CT Author Sydney Sherman discusses her debut book tonight, including the effects the media has on our beliefs. You Are Not Alone approaches the paranormal with healthy common sense and rational skepticism. She shows how to avoid falling prey to paranormal frauds, and encourages the audience to share stories. Friday Fun with Music Mandy — Back to Basics-Read activities. Friday, Aug. 2, 10-10:45 a.m. Trumbull resident and music educator will entertain the masses in the main area of the children’s room. Drop in.
Family Chess Club — Saturday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m.-noon. Selva Selvarajan’s Family Chess Club will assemble on the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends). Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children’s Section with your own board, or come to watch.
Open craft tables — Back to Basics-Read. Monday, Aug. 5, 1-4 p.m. Visit the library, borrow some books and create a craft to take home. Tables with materials will be in the area for summer fun. Every Monday in August. Drop in.
Animal Embassy presents World Wildlife — Back to Basics-Read. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m.-noon. Learn about the fascinating diversity of life on Earth as you take a journey around the globe. See endangered species and interact with several amazing adaptations, from alligators to pythons. Watch red-eyed frogs, and feel the softer side with chinchillas. Ages 4 and up. Register.
