Two retired physicians will be honored during an annual benefit for Bridgeport Hospital.

Final preparations are underway for the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary annual spring gala, Thursday, May 22, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Birchwood Country Club in Westport.

The event will honor two recently retired physicians, William (Greg) Hulcher, and M. Clive Robinson, as well as Robinson’s wife Robyn, a retiring auxiliary member. Proceeds will support renovations to the SurgEase ambulatory surgery area at the hospital.

A resident of Woodbridge, Hulcher was a member of the hospital board of directors and practiced internal medicine from his office in Trumbull as a member of the hospital medical staff for more than 40 years.

Robinson, who lives with his wife in Fairfield, was chief of cardiothoracic surgery from 1999 to 2013, and is regarded as an international pioneer in minimally invasive heart surgery. He was part of the team that performed New England’s first hybrid ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation in 2011.
