Denali Trumbull has announced a three-part clinic that will inspire shoppers to get into nature this summer.

Summer is the perfect time to pack a bag, take a hike and pitch a tent.

However, leaving roads and campgrounds behind can be a wonderful but daunting experience at first.

That’s why the Denali store in the Westfield Trumbull Mall is offering a free clinic series this summer that teach the essentials of backpacking, hiking, and camping.

The series begins Tuesday, July 12, with a class titled Intro to Backpacking that runs from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

“Let us help you plan your trip and answer questions,” a Denali spokesperson said. “You can still have an enjoyable experience while going light enough to carry everything on your back. Let our experts show you tips on how to plan, what to pack (what not to pack) and what to eat while you explore beautiful wilderness areas and long distance hikes.”

The second session — Hiking and Camping for Women — will be held two weeks later on Tuesday, July 26, and will also run 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

This clinic will go over the basics of hiking and camping with special attention to the specific questions or concerns women might have about these activities.

Store employees leading the clinic will discuss women’s specific gear, comfort and security. Those attending are asked to come with questions or comments and personal stories.

Comfort Camping will be the third and final part of the clinic.

The program, scheduled to run 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, will challenge shoppers stigmas of camping.

“When you think of camping you may think of sleeping on the ground, eating squirrel over an open fire, or getting eaten by mosquitoes,” the clinic’s press release said. “That doesn’t have to be your camping experience. In fact, we can suggest ways to make camping feel like home.”

Denali experts will show those attending the benefits of choosing the right sleeping pad and tent, gourmet ready to eat meals, mosquito netting, and much more.

“Connecting with nature is always fun, we can also make it a more comfortable experience for you and your family with our fun interactive clinic,” a Denali spokesperson said.

Denali is located at 5065 Main Street #265, inside the Trumbull Mall.
