The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), presented the Good Citizen Award to senior Rachel Mack, a Christian Heritage High School senior.

Chapter Regent Christy Hendrie presented the Certificate and DAR Good Citizen pin at the Christian Heritage School Awards Ceremony on June 4 to Rachel, daughter of LuAnn and Roger Mack. Regent Hendrie said it was an honor to present Rachel with this award.

The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest was created in 1934 and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Recipients are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

Regent Hendrie mentioned that DAR Good Citizens program is a great way to recognize outstanding young people, such as Rachel, who show the qualities of good citizenship.

The DAR perpetuates the memory and spirit of the men and women who won American independence. The DAR is a women’s volunteer service organization that promotes education, historic preservation, and patriotism.

Any woman over 18 who can prove an ancestor served in the American Revolution is a prospective member. For more information on the DAR visit sarahriggshumphreysDAR.org.
