Trumbull Police / ContributedTRUMBULL — A local man was arrested Saturday after police say he pointed a loaded gun at another motorist in a road rage incident.
Trumbull police said the motorist claimed Robert Butler, 27, cut off his vehicle while he was driving through the Target parking lot on Hawley Lane around 3 p.m. Saturday. After they exchanged words, Butler pointed a loaded handgun at the motorist and then fled, police said.
Police said Butler also reported the incident to them. Butler claimed the motorist almost struck him with his vehicle and pointed an unidentifiable object at him, police said. Butler said he then pulled out his gun, police said.
Police said they found a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in Butler’s backpack. Police said there were eight bullets in the gun's magazine.
No injuries were reported.
Butler was charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace and was held on a $20,000 bond. Butler is scheduled to appear March 13 in state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
