Naugatuck police: Woman wanted for breaking into car, trying to cash forged check

NAUGATUCK — Police are trying to identify a woman who broke into a vehicle, stole a purse and tried to cash a forged check earlier this month. 

The Naugatuck Police Department said the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. The woman broke into a vehicle parked on Bridle Trail and stole a purse, according to police in a Facebook post Tuesday

Police said that on Jan. 4 around 2:30 p.m. the woman attempted to use a stolen ID to cash a forged check for $2,300 at an Ion Bank in Meriden. 

According to photos from the police department, it appeared the woman drove a gray Toyota sedan.
