GREENWICH — A Stamford man has been charged with first-degree sexual assault for an incident that occurred last week, according to police.
Fernando Cuellar-Vasquez, 24, was also charged with first-degree unlawful restraint and bribery of a witness, Greenwich police said in a news release Thursday.
Police said Cuellar-Vasquez turned himself in at the Greenwich Police Department Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred March 8, police said.
Lt. Patrick Smyth said the victim "was known to Cuellar-Vasquez," but that he was not in a position of authority over the victim.
Police did not provide more information about the incident.
Police said Cuellar-Vasquez was released on $250,000 bond and is due to appear March 31 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
