
Connecticut State Police have shut down a section of Route 7 near I-95 in Norwalk after a motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes early Saturday, the agency said.

Around 3:20 a.m., state police out of Troop G in Bridgeport were called to the northbound side of Route 7 near Exit 2 for a single vehicle crash, state police said in a news release Saturday afternoon.
Behind the wheel, police found 35-year-old John Gavilanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
"From the evidence on scene, it was determined this was not a motor vehicle accident, but a homicide," the release said.
The state police Western District Major Crime Squad responded to the scene to investigate and the New Haven state's attorney's office was notified, state police said.
Police said the killing appears to have been "isolated" and that there was no further threat to the public.
The northbound lanes of Route 7 remain closed around Exit 2 and the ramps onto Route 7 north from both sides of Interstate 95 have been closed for the investigation, state police said.
