TRUMBULL — The driver of a sedan headed the wrong way on Route 25 northbound was killed Wednesday after colliding with a delivery van, according to state police.
State police have identified the driver as 61-year-old Shahid Malik, of Easton. The crash occurred around 11:35 a.m.
Malik was driving south in the northbound lanes of Route 25 when he collided head-on with a Ford van near the Route 111 intersection.

Malik was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the van, which police had earlier described as a FedEx vehicle, was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital for “suspected minor injury,” the report states.
State police said the crash remains under investigation. The report did not give any indication as to how or where Malik got on the highway going the wrong way.
