Victim identified in wrong-way fatal crash

A 59-year-old woman from Rockingham has been identified as the person who died after a driver drove the way way and collided with her vehicle on Interstate 91, police said.

Kathleen Spence died in the crash Tuesday, police said.

The driver who turned around, Sarah Love, 34, of Waitsfield, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol with death resulting and gross negligent operation with death resulting, police said. It wasn’t immediately known if Love was being represented by an attorney.

She was taken to the hospital with a head injury, police said Wednesday.

State police were notified of a vehicle driving erratically on 91 south late Tuesday afternoon. The driver then turned around and started heading north in the southbound lane, police said. The sports utility vehicle hit an oncoming car and then Spence's car, police said.
