Thanksgiving holiday — Libraries closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29; open Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1.

Getting to know your computer — Friday, Nov. 22, 9:30-11:30 a.m. An introductory session to familiarize people with the computer desktop. This hands-on workshop explains how to use My Documents and My Computer, and functions such as Programs and Control Panel. Limited to eight people. If the class is full, you will be put on a wait list. Must have some mouse experience.

Autumn concert series — Singing the Great Conflict: The Greatest Hits of the Civil War. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2-3 p.m. Popular songwriters’ compositions reflected the divisive thoughts and strong feelings of those who fought in the Civil War as well as those who remained home. Singer-songwriter Rick Spencer performs songs which were popular during the War, and gives insight into the American character of the period. Drop in. CDs available for purchase.

Teen book discussion — Tuesday, Nov. 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tonight’s title is Just One Day by Gayle Forman. Straitlaced Allyson finds her graduation trip to Europe underwhelming until she makes the uncharacteristic decision to follow Willem, an actor in Twelfth Night, to Paris for a single day. Willem seems to disappear after a one-night stand. What follows is a roller coaster freshman year for Allyson. Copies in Children’s. Drop in for lively discussion and bring a friend.

Storytime for 2 1/2-3 years ald — Tuesday, Nov. 26, 10:30-11 a.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 27, 9:30-10 a.m. Eye-catching books, fingerplays, music, and a themed craft make for a wonderful learning experience for our young pre-readers and their caregivers. Register. Child/caregivers Trumbull resident.

Pre-K storytime — Tuesday, Nov. 26, 11-11:30 a.m. Storytime friends gather to hear age appropriate stories and create a take-home craft. Trumbull residents that will be entering kindergarten next year. Register.

Storytimes for 3 and 4’s — Wednesday, Nov. 27, 10:30-11 a.m. Sharing books, songs and creating crafts has never been so much fun. Register. Trumbull residents.

Baby Café 6 months to 2 years — Wednesday, Nov. 27, 11-11:30 a.m. Baby’s first introduction to the library. Babies and caregivers can expect a jam-packed session of rhythm and rhymes guaranteed to enchant our littlest explorers. Drop in.

Fairchild Nichols Branch 

Turkeys are terrific — Saturday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m.-noon. Are you ready to gobble, gobble? Come hear some fun turkey tales, learn some facts about these true American birds and make a wonderful turkey craft to display at your Thanksgiving table. Ages 7-10. Register. Baby’s morning out — Monday, Nov. 18, 10:30-11:15 a.m. Babies interact while hearing simple stories, songs, rhymes. Then 30 minutes of play time with toys and other babies. Parent/caregivers have time to meet and socialize; so it is really your morning out too. Ages 1-23 months. Register. Child/caregiver Trumbull resident.
