Trumbull conditions updated; Schools closed Wednesday
The following is a message from Trumbull Citizen Alert:
This is First Selectman Tim Herbst calling from the emergency operations center.
I have just returned from surveying the town. As of this morning all major roads in Town are blocked. All Trumbull public and parochial schools will be closed Wednesday October 31, 2012. Even though the storm has passed, it is still not safe to be outdoors. LIVE power lines are down. Severely weakened trees continue to fall and travel is considered extremely dangerous. All residents should remain indoors until further notice. Please do not go outdoors and please monitor your children.
The Town and the United Illuminating Company are working to open major roadways in town. The priority is to make safe all downed wires before trees can be removed and roads cleared. United Illuminating is also assessing damage and working towards power restoration.
Please check the town website, www.trumbull-ct.gov for further updates and information and also follow us at Facebook.com/townoftrumbull and Twitter feed @townoftrumbull.
This is First Selectman Tim Herbst. Thank you for listening.
